Benjamin Britten in Lowestoft - 3 January, 1931
from Diary of Benjamin Britten, Jan 3 1931, page 59:
Practise at 11.45 at the Colemans with Charles & Bazil. Musical Evening at 8.0. Chief Attraction - Mr Voke's singing. He sings esp. well, Boris' Monologue (twice). About 30 altogether came. We try my W.S. Blunt Song for Sops. & Altos - utter failure. People terrified by accidentals and manuscript (copied by Aunt Q [Queenie] - & self). Play Bach 2ble concerto. Mozart Sonata in D [BB notates sonata rhythm here] Merry Andrew, etc.
