Neil A. C. Weir in Ploegsteert - early , month unknown, 1916
from War Diary of Capt. Neil Weir, Jan-Mar 1916, page 51:
When we first saw the village of 'Plugstreet' [Ploegsteert] it was practically intact. The Boche rarely shelled it owing to the number of spies living in it...
We...put our main trench into some state of repair and started to rebuild the parapets...
Our tours out we spent at the hutments at Rabot, where there were decent baths and we could always get into Armentières...
There was a good canteen at Romarin, where entertainments and cinema shows were given. I remember Lena Ashwell's party coming with their baby piano.
