Nikolai Myaskovsky in Saint Petersburg - 10 September, 1907

from Sergei Prokofiev Diaries: 10 September 1907, page 6:

Myaskovsky did not like my C minor Sonatina at all: 'God knows what this is supposed to be! Operetta music, and the cheapest kind at that! I was obviously right not to submit it, even though personally I am rather fond of the first movement; the only thing that met with Myaskovsky's approval was the last movement with the leaps in it.
