Sally Anderson in Chester County - early 20th Century
from His Eye Is On the Sparrow, page 59:
I found Mom lying on the same kind of broken-down couch she'd had in our house. She looked terrible ill, shrunken. She had cancer, and there was big hole in her back...
Sally Anderson was dying, and I knew it. She asked me to sing "His Eye Is on the Sparrow." As I sang it I wondered if it was the last time she'd ever hear it.
It was. On Friday of that week Vi came in from Ide's house. She said, 'The doctor was just out there. I don't think Mom can make it.'
