Chris Murphy in Dallas - the 1970's

from Miles To Go: The Lost Years: An Intimate Memoir of Life on the Road with Miles Davis, page 28:

Badal Roy was a Bangladeshi tabla whiz who sometimes seemed amazed to be playing in this band [Miles Davis]. The afternoon before, in Dallas, I had talked with Roy in the bar of the Holiday Inn where we were staying. He was very kind, taking the time to show me the mathematical progressions that make up tabla playing, and the heel-of-the-hand to fingertip technique he used.
