In a weak tenor voice, but with dramatic effect and facial expression, he sang to his own accompaniment some Normandy folk-songs, concluding with an exceptionally grisly one about a "TĂȘte qui r-r-r-roule," while his eyes, to make our flesh creep, rolled terribly.
