Extracts from Bunsen's Daughters' Diaries, Friday 21st June, 1850 - A deputation of noblemen and gentlemen had presented to Lady Palmerston a portrait of her husband, in token of approbation and admiration. The picture was hung up, but it is neither a good likeness nor a good painting. But how was everybody startled by the news, that Sir Robert Peel had been thrown from his horse when riding in the Park, and was seriously hurt! Monday, 1st July.—The account of Sir Robert Peel is more alarming than at first ; he suffers a great deal, the collar bone being fractured in three places. . . . …   more >>
