I was in the habit of so hearing him [Pacchierotti] most frequently, and having been intimately acquainted with him for many years, am enabled to speak thus minutely of his performance. On such occasions he would give way to his fancy, and seem almost inspired: and I have often seen his auditors, even those the least musical, moved to tears while he was singing.
