Five more societies sang, making eleven in all on this first day of performance, all of which belonged to the third class. It will not be expected that we should attempt to remark upon the singing of the different societies; there was quite a wide range from tolerably good (there was no performance positively bad) up to that which approached as near to perfection as is often found even in music’s chosen land. It was not difficult, however, to decide to which society belonged the first prize for the performances of this day.
