The next day we sailed for Melbourne, the Mecca of our pilgrimage, five hundred miles distant. We spent a month delightfully in that city, which we found to be a musical one, if several musical societies and many concerts are good proof of that statement.
We made our debut in a concert given by the Apollo Club, a society built on the lines of that of Boston. It was for us a grand send-off. The conductor was Mr. Julius Herz, an enthusiastic and accomplished musician.
