from Recollections of an old musician, page 57:
Sometime in 1848, another organization, styling itself the Lombardi Orchestra, visited us. It was made up of the remnants of an Italian opera orchestra which had ended operations in New York, and came to Boston on a venture, with August Fries as leader and first violin.
