Igor Stravinksy in Paris

In spite of a bad case of trac (nerves), I conducted the first performance, the first concert work of mine that I introduced myself. The Paris Opéra seemed a large frame for only eight players, but the group was set off by screens, and the sound was well balanced. The Octet was composed for, and is dedicated to, Vera Sudeykina.
