Liszt’s arrangement of the quartet from Rigoletto was one of my show-pieces; I had just heard it played splendidly by Madame Teresa Carreño at one of the Covent Garden Promenade Concerts. She was little more than a girl herself at that time, and what a beautiful girl! How she played even then!
