James Douglas lodged with the Mitchell family as a chorister: 'I was placed under the care of a Miss Mitchell at Eton who bestowed on me the loving care of a Mother during the years I was with her. Her Father who lived with her had been Coachman to the Provost of Eton & her brother was one of the Lay Clerks at S.Georges & also organist at Eton College' (p. 2)
