We sometimes visited one of Dad’s sisters, Auntie Maud, a very childish woman, and in our view and vernacular, soppy ! However, she was the possessor of a musical box, which both delighted and fascinated us. It was kept locked, but she would play it for us, enjoying the tinkling tunes as much as we did, and as if she was hearing them for the first time; I loved that musical box and could never have enough of it, I suppose because I heard it so rarely.
