Ira David Sankey was an American gospel singer and composer known as The Sweet Singer of Methodism. His most popular and enduring work is ‘Sacred Songs and Solos’, known as ‘Sankey and Moody’ a sacred song collection compiled with his collaborator the evangelist Dwight L. Moody.
