Ethel M. Clark in Woolaston, Gloucestershire - early 20th Century
from Their small corner, page 90:
Most of the older men had their favourite songs. The carpenter always sang,
Good health to the barley mow,
The farmer’s son always sang Joshu, Joshua, while another man was nick named Maginty because of the number of times he sang,
Down went Maginty to the bottom of the sea.
