I went yesterday morning to St. Paul's [Knightsbridge]. I never liked anything so much as Mr. Bennett’s sermon; never disliked anything so much as the performance of the service, a sort of parody of what I do not like at Rome. The clergyman who read the service hummed it over in a monotonous rapid mutter, the new way I am told. The music constant, troublesome, lively, inefficient, so that the Litany was like charity school children divided by London cries. But then came Mr. Bennett, admirable, simple.
