Went with Lady Charlotte to hear the military band in the Prince’s Pavilion. Luckily, we only heard two pieces, for the noise of so many loud instruments in a room (the dining-room) which could hardly hold them, was not a remedy for my headache.

'Lady Charlotte', Mary Berry's companion on this outing, could refer to either Lady Charlotte Lindsay or Lady Charlotte Campbell. Both ladies were members of Princess Caroline's household. Lady Charlotte Lindsay (d. 1849) became Mary Berry's closest friend in later years.
