Triple Time in Musick has to my Ear an Effect like eight Syllable Rhyme in Poetry—adding Grace to light Compositions, but taking away Majesty from Sublimer Thoughts.—Parnell’s Night piece on Death should have been in longer Measure […] and Paesiello has committed the same Folly in that fine Duet beginning Ne’ giorni tuoi felici in his Olimpiade: the Expression gets forced, and while you applaud, you condemn yourself for applauding.
