My return was very slow; fearful of encount’ring the noise of the market folks of the inn […]

I came back too soon; for our house was in rustic revelry, with such a quantity of singing!  Solos, and in parts, and all kinds of chauntings, increasing with the beer, to an excess of bawling: but some of the voices I was obliged to hear, seem’d to possess much power.
