Barbara Chichester in London, England - 25 November, 1818
from Diary of Thomas Moore, 25 November 1818, pages 221–222:
Dined at the George; and went to Lady D[onegal] (whom I had promised to dine with) in the evening. Sung after tea, but was obliged soon to stop. Music has always a most powerful effect upon her; but, in the present weak state of her nerves, one more such song as “Oft in the Stilly Night” would have evidently thrown her into hysterics.
