Dined at Lord Granard’s: company, beside Lord John, Mercer, Lord Valletort, the Rancliffes, &c. […] Sung in the evening, and so did Mercer,— one a pretty air, which he learned from Madame Durazzo, but could not get her to tell him the words “Io credo (she said) che sono improper.”

Notes
Lord Rancliffe separated from his wife in 1815, but he had a sister in Paris. It is possible, therefore, that 'the Rancliffes' refers to him and his sister.
