Dined with my fellow traveller, M. Mariton: Stibbert, too, of the party; the remainder (about eight or nine) all French […] After dinner, two ladies played on the pianoforte; said they saw I liked music, and asked whether I played myself; said “a little;” was pressed to sit down to the pianoforte; sung “When midst the Gay I meet.”
