John Britton in Sans Pareil Theatre, The Strand, London - between 1800 and 1825

from The Auto-Biography of John Britton, F.S.A., Honorary Member of Numerous English and Foreign Societies, page 322:

Connected with the Strand are reminiscences of the Lyceum Theatre, with my public appearance on its stage, and in the stage-box; […] and also of the “Sans Pareil Theatre,” as it was called in 1806, when Mr. Scott, a colour-maker, built and fitted it up for his daughter, who made her first public appearance there, and gained much applause for songs and recitations.  This lady’s performances, united with mechanical and optical illusions, gave character to the house, and made the fortune of its proprietor.
