D. (Dudley) Ryder in London, England - 5 August, 1715
from The Diary of Dudley Ryder, 1715-1716 , page 69:
Diary entry 5 August 1715 Met in the street Mr. [George] Smith. Went with him to hear him play with Mr. Demodore [Daniel De Moivre]. He plays much better than he did. While they were playing I sat by reading a Spectator which gives an account of the story that is told of Seneca who was an old man and his young wife Paulina who was so extremely fond of him that when Nero sent to command him to die she resolved to die with him and did so.
