Ned Rorem in Nantucket - 23 June, 1982

from The Nantucket Diary of Ned Rorem 1973-1985, page 362:

Something made me get out Bill Flanagan's song on Donne's "Send home my long strayd eyes to meet,/ Which (Oh) too long have dwelt on thee," which with all its imperfection after all these years (beauty limps) heads right toward the heart, especially as Regina Sarfaty was so achingly sad in those verses.
