Ned Rorem in Philadelphia - between 1956 and 1957

It would have been in 1956 or 1957, the first time Ormandy ever played a piece of mine - Eagles, or was it Design? - in the Philadelphia Academy, and I was elated. Since I was to take my bow from the stage, the manager asked of I'd mind hearing the piece from the wings, offered me a dressing room to wait in, and left.
