He had the most expressively varied vibrato and the most wonderful trills of any violinist I have ever known. Depending on the speed and lightening of a trill, his trilling finger struck the string higher than the actual note, thus keeping in tune although the light, fast motion of the finger did not push the string to its full depth on the fingerboard.
