Ned Rorem in New York City - June, 1966
from The Later Diaries of Ned Rorem 1961-1972, page 208:
How many musical thrills does one have any more? One or two a season? Même pas. Yet last June, the last piece on the program of the last Stravinsky Festival was the Symphony of Psalms conducted by the maître himself at the speed of his metabolism. We've all heard it a thousand times, yet those threads of spice wove us insidiously into a heavenly hammock which rocks still this moment.
