He [Berezowsky] established himself in my room and I looked over the score and played it through. Late at night I was still playing, and he was jotting down my suggestions. / Lying in the dark, I couldn’t sleep. The two concerti were running and bouncing in my head. “Oh, those giant twins – I am in labor,” I groaned to the snoring Nicky. The somber colors of the beginning of the Berezowsky Concerto threateningly gathered over me like a mass of slow-moving clouds.
