Beatrice Harrison in Berlin - in the middle of 1927

from The Cello and the Nightingales- The autobiography of Beatrice Harrison, page 146:

I went to Berlin in the spring of 1927 to bring out the Elgar there. Alas, it was a dead failure, much to my horror and Elgar’s disappointment. Werner wolf was the conductor and he did not understand it in the least and the orchestra was as heavy as lead. I have never been back there since.
