Ned Rorem in New York - 24 May, 1983

At eight, Otto Luening's concert at the old Julliard on Claremont, with at least one wondrous piece. Twenty-two flutists arranged themselves in a circle around the audience, then began to warble, entering one by one, consecutively, until all twenty-two had tuned the hall into an aviary of whistling delight. Then, one by one, they dropped out, and all disappeared.
