Ned Rorem in Metropolitan Opera House (Lincoln Center) - 12 November, 1983

from The Nantucket Diary of Ned Rorem 1973-1985, page 432:

Peter Grimes at the Met. Each time (once or twice a year) I come here I'm shocked anew at the sloppy fare proffered by this most self-congratulatory of houses. Tonight, not one voice was on pitch, nor better than your average church choir member even on pitch.
