Coming out of the bank on 57th I dropped in to Rizzoli's where the piped-in browsing music became more important than, say, Zeffirelli's autobiography or Jackie Collins's novel, which were on display. It was an old disk of Piaf, remindful again of how no one today holds a candle to her.
