Benjamin Britten in Lowestoft - 11 August, 1934

from Journeying boy : the diaries of the young Benjamin Britten 1928-1938, page 220:

Listen to 1st Promenade of Season at 8.0. A good many popular items are scuttled through, including a very hectic show of Till Eul.* Most of these performances don't stand careful listening. I don't wonder that the orchestra is dead at the end of the season - because Wood is an absolute vandal.
