Igor Stravinksy in Saint Petersburg - 6 November, 1893

from Memories and Commentaries, page 30:

When I went to school and awesomely announced to my classmates that Tchaikovsky was dead, one of them wanted to know what grade he was in. I remember two memorial concerts. The first, on 6 November, was conducted by Nápravník in the Réunion des Nobles. Besides the Pathétique Symphony, the programme included the Romeo and Juliet Overture and the Violin Concerto played by Leopold Auer.
