In the afternoon I practised the piano, learning the Third Piano Concerto and going through the programme for my concert on the 12th in Cleveland. An amusing thing with the Piano Concerto: in my haste to finish the score in France, I did not trouble to write out the whole of the piano part in the finale, and when I packed my trunk I left all the sketches and working material for the Concerto with Mama, so that in case the trunk should go missing, at least they would remain intact. I now realise that the middle section of the finale has no piano part, and I can hardly remember this passage. … more >>
