Martha Riley: I rent the house. The prisoner Dowling lodges with me. I live in the bottom part, and lie in the three pair of stairs.
Q. What time did you go to bed?
Riley. About twelve o'clock.
Q. Did you hear any cries or disturbance in his room?
Riley. Between six and seven o'clock, I went to their room to get a saucepan I had lent Mary Cove and the girl (Sarah Sharpe) was singing.
