Ben Turner et al. in St. Louis, Missouri - November, 1910, at night
from About Myself, 1863–1930, pages 205–206:
I went to a dinner one night at 11 o’clock. It was given by the Actors’ Association, who were and are part of the Federation.[*] It had to be after theatre hours for business reasons, and a most sober, jolly and artistic function it was. I heard noted artists sing and recite, and when I left with Mr. John Mitchell at three in the morning, they were as happy as could be.
