Catherine Talbot in St Paul's Cathedral and Deanery, London - 30 October, 1751, in the morning
from Journal of Catherine Talbot: correspondence, journals and verses 1735 – 1769, pages 30r:
I rose at 6 & employ'd my early hours as usual. We hear no noise here but of distant Bells which sound very prettily, & our own deep Voiced Clock which reminds one not to lose a single quarter: at 9 3/4 we went to Church, & the Choir Service Echoing thro' that vast Building is Charmingly Solemn & pleasing. […] I walked in a Sunny quiet Spot in the Church Yard which I like better than ever I did the Mall where I always expected high amusement & found dull disappointment.”
