I paused at the concert hall where three girls were rehearsing Debussy's Trio Sonata, the coolest of medicines. Listening, it became clear that we are supposed to die. That fact, which everyone accepts, made sense for the first time. Three weeks ago. Today I'm ever more aware of decay, of the ultimate disappearance of these words too, my music, the planet, you.
