Ned Rorem in New York - early , month unknown, 1986

from Lies: A Diary 1986-1999, page 10:

Recording of Sunday in the Park with George. Revised my opinion. The second of the two acts, which some find a letdown, is singularly touching, personal, and, yes, beautiful. Bernadette Peters's aria about the past is like nothing ever heard before, and haunting with its rising clarinets.
